Vegetable Gardening the Organic Way

28 February 2010 143 Comments

We all know vegetables are good for us right? Of couse they are! Especially the leafy green ones such as cabbage, lettuce and spinach, and the bright colorful ones such as carrots and tomatoes. Knowing that eating lots of vegetables is good for our health, we regularly fill up our baskets and trolleys with them at the supermarket. However, what you probably don’t realize is that the vegetables you purchase at the supermarket (unless they are marked organic) are not as good as they may seem.

You see, regular vegetables are usualy doused in all sorts of chemicals. These chemicals are used by farmers to keep away insects, and to make their crops appear larger and more colorful. However, don’t be alarmed just yet, because the chemicals that farmers use are used in moderation, and the amounts that are put on the crops of vegetables are deemed not harmful to us.

Although these chemicals are not considered harmful in any way, it is still the healthier option to choose organic vegetables. Organic vegetables are ones that are grown completely naturally without the use of any chemicals what so ever. Wouldn’t you feel better knowing that you are giving your family and loved ones fresh healthy veg that is free of any chemical residue?

You can purchase organic vegetables from your local supermarket, however they may cost slightly more than your average vegetables. The best way to start eating more organically is to grow your own organic vegetables from your very own vegetable garden at home. The advantages of growing your own organic vegetables is that it will save you money in the long run. What’s more vegetable gardening can be a lot of fun, and you can get the whole family involved.  Why not start your own organic vegetable garden today, and give your family and children the healthy chemical free veggies that they deserve.
